On your way through the great Northwest, be sure to take a few side trips along the way. The trees are amazing, the rivers, especially the great Columbia at Astoria and Portland, are all breathtaking. But nothing beats a huge book store, as large as a city block. First stop, Powell’s Books in Portland, OR. Not only do they have a crazy amount of new and used books, but Powell’s also boasts various book clubs, story times and a rare book room.

Once you’ve grabbed your favorite reads and a cup a Joe, head out of town a few miles to one of the most picturesque spots in the area—Multnomah Falls. On the Columbia River, the bridge is an ideal location for some delightful pictures. Friendly trails wind around misty vistas, some of which are even wheelchair accessible.

Finally, jump back in the car and point west, headed for Seaside and Lincoln City both of which are on the coast. Lincoln City is the kite capital of the state and Seaside has lovely shops, hiking, and beaches to enjoy!
Let me know where you love to visit in the state of Oregon!
